Server did not shutdown properly - Error message

Post by ctvu »

Hi All,
Hope you could help me with the issue that I mentioned above.
We have 2 replication tasks (unix and windows server), whenever I turned on the replicated server, I always have the message the server did not shutdown properly.
With the Windows server I can pass this message, but with the Unix server I have the error message saying "shutdown state invalid" which I cannot get pass, then I shutdown the unix with cmd shutdown -g0 -y, in hope that it would get rid of the error message, but it is still there. Is there any way to avoid the error message?
Any help/ advice would be appreciated.

Best Regards

Hi Fabian,

As per requested, here it is the case number: 05537738.
In addition, I recalled whenever I restored a Windows server from Veeam backup, then I first powered on, I had the same message about the server did not shutdown properly.

Best Regards

That is to be expected. From the restored server's point of view the situation is exactly the same as if it booted up again after a loss of power.

Hello,

I wouldn't say that it's expected. I would check AAIP settings for Windows-based workloads and VMware tools quiescence for Linux-based ones and would open a support case if the issue persisted with the mentioned settings.

Thanks!
