Hey there,
if veeam can't reach something you specified with a DNS/FQDN it takes a huge amount of time until the timeout occurs (it feels like forever and is seems longer than 1 minute).

Wasn't there a registry key which can set the dns-query timeout down to like 5 seconds?
I tried to search around but didn't found anything, but i remember it was already mentioned here sometimes.
many thanks!

Re: Set DNS Timeout for Veeam GUI Queries to 5 seconds?
Hello,
there is no general registry key for (DNS)timeouts. There are many timeout reg keys for different situations in the software. They are have default values with high network latency or high load of backup server / components in mind. The same should happen if you add by IP address and a component is down (not only with DNS issues).
Agree, that can be annoying in some situations.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Set DNS Timeout for Veeam GUI Queries to 5 seconds?
Too bad
Oh yeah...
Especially if you're handling Deduplication Backup Repositories which have a specified proxy attached to it and you forget that this one Backup proxy isn't currently available and you need to restore something.
Loading the Backup Repository Setup-Screen takes ages to load then hits the "RPC Server unavailable error" and then you are able to change the backup proxy used for the deduplication backup repository (But you can then change the Backup Proxy)
Also, since that just came up:
Is there something planned to attach multiple Backup Proxys to such Deduplication Appliances? Would be great for scaling and failover/restore scenarios.
Apart from the automatic gateway setting i mean. I would rather like to manually specify some/multiple proxys for the dedup appliances like in the backup jobs

yes, gateway pools are an open feature request. We have ideas to do it, but I cannot share any timeline for that.
