Sharepoint Backup Best Practice
Hi all, I'm trying to configure a backup for my Sharepoint 2013 application. I have 1 Search server, 1 Application Server & 1 DB server for sharepoint, these are all VM servers.
Do I need to create a separate backup jobs for each of the server? I need to have the ability to perform file /object level recovery.

Re: Sharepoint Backup Best Practice
Hi Hannes,
Which means in 1 job, I need add all 3 servers together?
Currently I only setup 2 backup jobs for my search server & web/app server. Both with app aware turned on, however when I tried to do recovery I do not see any sharepoint recovery option.

Hi Jason,
It does not matter whether Sharepoint servers are in the same job or not - you simply pick up a backup for a VM hosting your "web/app" instance so the mount operations will be possible.
Have you checked our guidance? What is exactly missing? Any screenshots you could share?
Thanks in advance.

You also need application-aware processing to be enabled in the job settings.

Re: Sharepoint Backup Best Practice
it cannot work without DB server.Currently I only setup 2 backup jobs for my search server & web/app server
it's not required as mentioned by Fedor. But there are some situations where the database is not automatically detected when you use different jobs. (there is a reg key to fix that). That's why I suggested one jobI need add all 3 servers together
