Sharepoint Item Recovery SQL Staging Server Licensing?

Hello guys,

i had a problem to recover Sharepoint Items to original SQL Server, when the support noticed that the SQL Server on the Sharepoint Site is a Enterprise Version and my Veeam SQL Server (which is also the Staging Server) is only Express.

So my Question is when i install a separate SQL Enterprise on the Backup Server and use this as Staging Server, do i have to license this Server? Or can i use a the License from the Sharepoint SQL?

I talked to Microsoft but they didnt understand what i mean They said something about Cold Backup is a possible Scenario to use the SQL License twice, but this isnt a cold backup scenario! Its a Staging Scenario

Hope someone had same Problem

I think I know what you are saying and as it is today to be compliant with MS you would need to license the "staging" server. Now from what I have seen on v9 of VBR, this will no longer be an issue as it will allow item level restores even when Veeam is only on an express version. This scenario was mentioned in the webinar here:http://www.veeam.com/videos/veeam-annou ... -6453.html I know the title says Oracle but it addresses what I believe to be your situation.

Hope it will be released fast, because this recovery procedure for Sharepoint Items is not good
