Slow Backup - Network Bottleneck
Hello,
We are using Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5.0.823 (Free Edition) to backup Hyper-V VMs but the backup jobs are extremely slow, the processing rate is 1 MB/s.
The Bottleneck is showing: Source: 4%, Proxy: %6, Network: 99%, Target: 0%
We are facing this issue on both Hyper-V servers we have, the backup target is C:\Backup
Veeam is installed on ESXi VM, we have tested the network speed between the Veeam server and the Hyper-V multiple times, all network SMB tests are showing network speed of 60+Mbps on write and read.
What could be the issue? if the network speed is fine why would the bottleneck be Network, during the backup process the speed is getting as low as 500 KB/s. The backup job of VM having 34GB as used space is taking almost 4 hours to complete!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ayman, just to clarify, backup target is located on the local disk of the Veeam B&R VM, right?

Hi,
Yes the backup target is on C:\Backup where the Veeam Backup and recovery is installed (Which is VM on ESXi Server). So it it saving the backup to its local disk.
Also for info, the VMs are on local disks, which means each Hyper-V server is having his VMs files located on his local internal disks too.

You need to check all interfaces involved in the traffic route from the Hyper-V host to the repository, chances are the route is not optimal. I recommend contacting support for assistance.

Re: Slow Backup - Network Bottleneck
We already made many tests, all sort of tests shows a network speed between the Veeam server and the Hyper-V server 60+MB/s
Is the free edition of Veeam eligible for support?
