Slow Backup

Post by hansis1 »

Hello!

We have a Backup of a virtual machine to an other location.

This machine have 6 virtual hard drives (1x 30 GB, 3x 500 GB, 1x 100 GB, 1x 50 GB).
Their are no snapshot on this machine.
The size of the machine is 1,53 TB and we need 19 hours for replication with a processing rate of 23 MB/s.

so the last VRB-File was 30 GB. Because of the 19 hours we had a processing rate of 26 MB/minute for this machine.

What setting do I have to check that the backup will get faster?

thx.

Hello Hansi,

Can you please describe your setup, because it is hard to give any advice without knowing the job mode you're using, connection link to your destination storage, the storage itself etc. By the way what version of ESX hosts and Veeam Backup and Replication are you currently using? What processing mode are you using?

Thank you!

esx-host: vsphere 4
vcenter: vmware vCenter Server 4
veeam Backup: v4.1

ESX-Host connected to Storage with FC.
ESX-Backup Host connected to Storage with SAS
Network between the two Switches: 1GB
The virtual machine is on an own array. Also at the other site!

Properties of the Job:
- Network replication
- VSS enabled

Now the Backup-Server is located in the same network. In future the Backup-Server will be in an other location connected over WAN with slow Datarate.
But now it should be faster.

If you need more information let me know.

thx.

Hansi, have you seen this thread, most likely this is the issue if you are using Network mode.
