Slow read performance when seeding
Hi All,
When performing seeding from a Dell DR4300 appliance the read performance is very slow. Being a DR site we only have 1GB ports but we are bearly getting 10MB restore levels. Has anyone has come across this error before?
Thanks,
Frank

Re: Slow read performance when seeding
Can you elaborate on the process you are following for seeding? You mention "restores" in your post which typically aren't used to seed backups.
The process is laid out step by step here:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/vsp ... liary.html
Basically at the source site you create a backup copy job to a local repository. Then copy the backup copy job files to external media. Ship that to your secondary site and move the files to your DR4300 appliance. Rescan the repository on the DR4300 and the files will be found. Edit the backup copy job to use the DR4300 repository and link the job to the new files.

Re: Slow read performance when seeding
Frank is probably talking about replica seeding using the backups sent offsite. How the appliance is added to Veeam B&R? What type of repository is used?

What server is specified as the gateway server for it? Is it located in the same site?

The veeam server and backup respository are on the same switch, VLAN on the same site

The issue has been isolated for the Quest DR 4300 unit
