Hi gto1720,
What you mean is when you are in windows account to creating a backup jobs. Do you logout again and login domain account to add SMTP server credentials? Just to confirm this.
Regards,
Kenny

No, your SMTP credentials are your SMTP credentials. What I mean is that the credentials you specify there get encrypted with the unique machine-specific key. This is absolutely transparent to the user, no need to bother about that, just specify the right creds to your SMTP server.

Which version are you on? If you're on v7, then you need to re-enter credentials while being logged under the account used by Veeam services, as specified by David above.

2) Login into Domain acccount and add smtp credentials.
3) Login back to window account and add smtp credentials again.
4)Login back to domain account n run the job.

Re: SMTP Notifications not sending - #00434020
We were seeing the same error, "Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credentials or connection settings", across 2 separate Veeam B&R v7 instances. Error began occurring after updating the smtp report recipients field ("To:") under "Options>Email Settings". After verifying SMTP settings, white list, networking, etc. had not changed, we noticed that several apostrophe characters (') were present in the recently added email addresses. The error appears to have cleared up upon removal of these characters from the recipients field. May be worth double-checking if you're experiencing the same error.

Hi everyone,
we've got the same problem with Veeam B&R 9.0.0.1491
We can send and receive test messages but not the messages generated from the backup jobs. The weird thing is, it just stopped a few weeks ago without any change on the machine, firewalls, AV or anything else.
We only use the global settings.
We also have a Support Case #01838716 with no solution yet.

Re: SMTP Notifications not sending - #00434020
i had the same problem and did use below procedure and it worked.
Also note that you need to get the e-mail provider to get the solution as for me it was g-mail
Please make sure to apply the following settings in Veeam under notifications :
Host: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port (TLS): 587
Username: Your full Gmail address (example@gmail.com)
Password: Your Gmail password
TLS/SSL Required: Yes .
Also please make sure to have a look on the following article : https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7126229?hl=en

Re: SMTP Notifications not sending - #00434020
I am having a similar problem. I'm trying to send using Office365. I've verified that I can telnet to smtp.office365.com from the site on port 587. When I try to use the mailbox account for smtp authentication the test returns "Unable to connect to SMTP server because of invalid credentials or connection settings". SSL option is selected in Advanced and credentials for authentication have been entered. I've logged in as the user account to portal.office.com successfully so I know its not invalid credentials. I can telnet to smtp.office365.com so it doesn't sound like connection settings. Any ideas?

Re: SMTP Notifications not sending - #00434020
Are you possibly trying to use application passwords for the SMTP server? If yes, then this is not supported at the moment.
