Hey team,
At some point I was told that the v10 RMAN plug-in was supposed to be able to disable source-side compression of backups. Did that feature make it into the v10 GA plug-in?
Looking at the v10 documentation the "--compression n" setting is still similar to the "decompress before storing" repository option, which is helpful for deduplication appliances. However, we are only aiming at reducing CPU impact on the Oracle databases during archive log backups. Currently, backups eat 100% of the number of cores specified with "--set-parallelism".
Thanks,
Preben.

Re: Source side compression for RMAN plug-in
Hello Preben,
The "--compression" option allows you to disable compression performed by Veeam Data Mover on source side.
I'd expect significant CPU load decrease on the Oracle server with disabled compression.
"Decompress before storing" is performed on target side and will not help you to decrease CPU impact on source.
Thanks!
