Space Question

Post by ccitsolutions »

Datastore has 80GB free. One machine currently running that's 2.7TB.
The first time it ran it failed. Then i unchecked "Skip VM notifications when free space if below"
It got to 4% then i canceled it because i was worried it would power down the VM.
My question is if I place a 2TB drive in there for an extra datastore will Veeam or the Hpyer know to store the snapshots there?
Is there somewhere in Veeam i can tell it to store the snapshots on a specific datastore?

Or should i add another drive and expand the current datastore that the VM is on?..

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

The question is where the hypervisor puts the snapshots. Veeam just requests "do a snapshot". The hypervisor then decides where to put it. Tests can be done by creating a snapshot directly in the hypervisor without Veeam

For VMware, I found this KB article: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1002929

Yes, I would expand the datastore and ensure that there is enough space.

Best regards,
Hannes
