Split up VBR and repo server role

Post by tka »

Hi all,

I'm planning to split up VBR (v12) and repo server role and move the VBR part from a physical server to a VM.

The planned steps are:

1. stop/disable jobs
2. config backup
3. disable VBR/DB services
4. install VBR (same version) on target system
5. restore config backup

Correct?

How do I make sure all the Repos will still be available via the physical server?

Thanks!
t.

Hi Tim,

Should be fine, but I would use the Migrate option instead of Configuration Restore -- the Configuration Restore wizard will handle the necessary actions with services, and you can see the notes here on step 6:

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... figuration
If you have local repositories, after migration to another machine they may be displayed as empty. In this case, add them again and remap the jobs.
So all _should_ be good, but if the repositories show as empty (for the repositories attached to the previous VBR server), just re-add them as noted and map and it should be good to go.
