Splitting Instances For Use On Different Veeam Server?

Post by wa15 »

We are looking at converting our 26 sockets of Ent+ perpetual licensing to 190 instances. However, we only have a need for 140 licenses on the current Veeam environment.

Do we have the option of "breaking off" the unused instances in bundles (e.g. 5 bundles for 50 instances) for use on a separate Veeam environment that's currently licensed by a DIFFERENT Veeam license/account? This environment is completely separate from the first Veeam environment and is not linked by Enterprise Backup Manager and has a combination of sockets and instances and has a different workload to backup (but on the same vCenter server)

Hi,

I guess you can certainly split your license key into separate chunks, but mixing different license keys (editions) in the same site/physical location is not allowed. Besides, if you have different accounts then merging these keys will not be possible in my.veeam.com portal.

Thanks!

If you're backing up the same environment and thinking about going all-instances, why not to:

- use one 190 instances license and the same backup server
- or use one 190 instances with two backup servers controlled by enterprise manager

Thanks!

Thanks for the info.

@Vladamir - the issue is that we can't have the two servers controlled by enterprise manager due to compliance issues.
