SQL 2005 express backup?

Is the Vcenter and Veeam database SQL 2005 express required to backup?

If you want to be able to restore them in case of disaster, then yes. Otherwise, no.

What function will be lose if do not backup them?

Veeam database contains all jobs configuration, as well as sessions history. So you would have to re-create all jobs from scratch.
For vCenter, it is best to direct this question to VMware.
