If you do a point-in-time restore Veeam is first restoring the complete database file and afterwards it imports the transaction logs. Both is happening via network so the bandwidth is the limiting resource here.
One of our customers asked if there's any possibility to restore the complete VM via direct-SAN and after that only import the transaction logs to the restored database.
If not please count that as a feature request.

Re: SQL point-in-time restore from transaction logs only
Currently even if you restore the entire VM first, the database will still be restored during point-in-time restore, prior applying the logs (Veeam B&R can't just restore the VM and then immediately apply logs). This is something that we have written down for future improvements.

Re: SQL point-in-time restore from transaction logs only
Thanks Alex, this would be a great enhancement for some use cases.
