All-
Has anyone had any experience backing up a SQL server 2008 instance using filestream? I didn't see anyone doing so when I searched for "filestream".
We just purchased a company that is using one of these (I have never used filestream before) and I need to figure out the best way to back it up.
I have been told that snapshots are not supported with filestream in sql server 2008 (but they WILL be in SQL server 2012). But that the only supported way to back up the database is to use the SQL server built in tools. I don't exactly understand why this would be the case, unless VSS is completely broken/unsupported for filestream data.
I would really prefer to keep all of my backups within Veeam.
I am running Veeam B&R Enterprise 5.0.2, if that is relevant.
Has anyone else done this? Good luck? Bad luck?
Thanks,
-Eric

Re: SQL Server 2008 with Filestream
Has no one really had any experience with SQL server filestream? I am getting a lot of pressure from management to use Backup exec, which I obviously would not like to do.
Thanks,

Re: SQL Server 2008 with Filestream
Someone's always got to be the first why not just back it up, and perform the test restore?
