SQL Server 2012 replication with Veeam B&R 5.02.230

Post by Vis »

Hi all,

is backing up and replicating (not using as a backend) a SQL Server 2012 supported with Veeam B&R version 5.02 ?

What would be your recommended guidelines and best practices ?

Thanks a lot for your input,
Petr

Upgrade to current version, since not until recent versions has Windows 2012 been fully tested and supported.

Thanks.

Just to clarify, we are running Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2012. Can you confirm whether this is officially supported by Veeam B&R 5.02 or if we need to upgrade ?

Thanks for your help.

I might have misunderstood you slightly, as my comment was related solely to Microsoft Server 2012 Hyper-V support. Sorry for that.

As to scenario you’ve described, our VSS integration (Application Aware Image Processing) might still work in this case. However, please be aware that at the time of VB&R 5 SQL wasn't even present on the market, so, backup/replicate it on your own risk.

Anyway, it just doesn’t make any sense to stay on such an obsolete version, since a variety of improvements have been implemented till these days.

Thanks.
