SQL Servers

Post by frit0 »

Good afternoon everybody,

We are installing Veeam Backup & Replication in our Company and they left me to programm a job for the SQL databases.

I think, that exactly, is not possible.

with this option, https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... ver=50#lic you not made a job to backup the databases right?

If make sql databases backups its possible, Can you tell me how?

Thanks a lot

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

If you are using Veeam Backup & Replication on Hyper-V (or VMware), then there are no agents (I mention it because you linked to the Veeam Agent for Windows).

Application aware processing would be the way to go.

Best regards,
Hannes

PS: also the Veeam agent for Windows can back up SQL databases. as you initially posted in the Hyper-V forum, I assume that agents are irrelevant.

Hi Hannesk,

Thanks for your reply, but like I understand the link you sent I can only backup the transaction logs, but that is database from SQL? Or just logs?

Hello,
okay, maybe it's better to start with the quick start guide :-)

Veeam does image-based backup of the entire machine. The database is always included in "entire machine". The concept of file based / object based backup does not exist with image-based backup.

Best regards,
Hannes
