Hi.
Is it possible to have the sqltemplogpath - for translog backups - on a network share?
Either as a UNC path or maped as a drive?
The problem is that on some servers the disk that have the temp log goes full.
We was thinking about having a dedicated server with large disk to have the temp logs.

Re: SQLTEMPLOGPATH - on network drive
Hi Tore,
Most likely it won't work. We have not tested this scenario specifically, but since a mapped folder is only accessible for a specific user, while our run-time process runs on behalf of a system it's obvious that there might be access issues.
ISCSI drive should work, though.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Regards,
Fedor

I tested this. If you type in an UNC path in the registry value, it gets reverted to the default, which is the drive which has the most free space at the time. This also happens, if you delete the key, so I assume that the UNC path is simply considered invalid.
