SSH authentication fails when adding linux server

I'm trying to add a SLES 11 server to Veeam Backup 7. Using "root" or any other username, I get the message "User authentication failed" on the SSH Connection screen.

However, when I launch Putty from the Veeam menu, I am able to SSH into that server (same port, same credentials).
