Do you have any snapshots in the infrastructure? Can you create a storage snapshot manually?

The OP has never returned either to update the topic with the found resolution nor with support case ID.

Thus, it might be worth opening your own ticket.

By the way, does a manual snapshot creation succeed?

Thanks.

Feature request : Storage Snapshot handling

Post by lowlander » 1 person likes this post

Hi Vladimir,

we did some investigation together with Veeam support. Please refer to case# 01764237. We occasionally had snapshot timeouts on a central backup job containing a lot of virtual machines. In the backup logging we discovered that a snapshotcontext is created. The virtual machine order is related to a snapshot context. When ordering the virtual machines in a order where another snapshot context is being used can cause a timeout of the storage snapshot resulting in a warning or a failure. We figured out that ordering the virtual machines in the backup order related to the corresponding snapshot context solved out problem of snapshot time outs on the storage.

We would like to do a feature request for placing the virtual machines in a backup job automatically in the correct order based on the snapshot context that is being created per host. The issue occurs in a Hyper-V environment, but maybe it is also applicable to vSphere. I will investigate this next time we are doing a vsphere setup.

Thanks !
