Hi all,
I know is a niche situation, but I'm looking for other users that maybe have already tested this before I start testing it myself.
We have a customer running a file server on a virtualized Mac OS X 10.7 with AFP services. Since it needed 8 Tb of disk space, we created a year ago 4 vmdks, each at 2 Tb in size, and striped them together via software raid inside the Guest OS.
By now, we save only the system disk via Veeam, set the other disks as indipendent, and we run time machine inside of it. Since performances of time machine are really bad, customer decided he wants to move everything to Veeam backups. I know and already tested Veeam FLR can read HFP+ partitions, but can it also read striped HFP+?
Docs states striped disks are supported in microsoft and Linux LVM, but no statement about HFP+. Do not know if is not listed because is not supported or simply because is a too uncommon situation.
Anyone? Or should I update myself this thread in few weeks when we will try it ourselves?
Luca.

Re: Striped HFP+
Ordinary HFS+ partitions can be read since Linux kernel includes the module for mounting them (and it is also included into our FLR appliance). That is not the same with Apple RAID, which seems to be used to create striped HFS+ partitions.dellock6 wrote:I know and already tested Veeam FLR can read HFP+ partitions, but can it also read striped HFP+?

Re: Striped HFP+
But you can always use U-AIR!! Starting up a vLab with a backup of the server should work fine and you can just use "normal" tools to copy the files back.

Re: Striped HFP+
Yeah, I know U-AIR could be our "last resort", I was looking for a quicker way of doing it. Anyway, next monday we will find out if the striped HFP+ can be read, or I will have to use U-AIR.
Thanks,
Luca.
Thanks,
Luca.
