Support for Conversion of Physical Servers ?
Will you ever be building this into the Veeam product ?
At the moment we have various physical servers that cannot be backed up with Veeam. We are having to use 3rd party tools to convert the physical machine then use Veeam to backup the Virtual server then replicate this offsite and it can take a long time and also more administration is required.
Another big problem is that most products cannot convert Windows 2008 R2 Physical machines to VM's so we are also struggling in this area. Any information or help in this area would be great.

Hello Amit, thank you for your feedback. Yes, this functionality is planned for a future release of our product. However, this will not be available in the upcoming major release (version 5.0) yet.

I haven't seen anything regarding this in the v6 features. Is this still being considered for a future version?

At the time I actually meant this won't be in v5 (the topic is 1.5 years old)
But yes, this is still considered for future versions.

So considering the age of the topic any idea when we might see this functionality? Is it a prirority or a nice to have if we have spare time to look at it?

Re: Support for Conversion of Physical Servers ?
Somewhere in between. Frankly speaking, lack of physical server backup has not been a pressing issue for us during the past years. And even today, we do have some features in mind that should add more value to the product than physical server backup.
However, because we do hear these requests quite often from our customers, we have no choice but to add this sooner, rather than later. Listening to you, building the tools you need.
