Re: Support for differential backups
The statement is still correct, as it says depending on how many restore points you want the chain may be long and have an impact on recovery when reading from an earlier backup. However we have added quite the major improvements against this.

Re: Support for differential backups
Yes, we are running two full backups each week as workaround.
It would be nice if differential backup is supported..... (snip) ...
.. but I guess that it is really depending on the trust of the backup software that it verifies the backup so that the chances of corruption are minimal.
Using multiple backup media is always preferred, I understand.
I don't yet know how to convince the other IT people (and my self also a bit), that incremental backup is also trustworthy, and you just have to believe that the software works and protects in the best way that it can.
It's difficult when you know that data/information/backups is the most valuable thing in the IT, because it is irreplaceable, and that the backups can be improved to reduce the risk of restore errors.
I think that we can end this discussion, it's all a matter of trust, and faith.
If anyone else has to add something to the this discussion, feel free to do so.

Re: Support for differential backups
Faith you can have in a backup, but you should only trust a working replica on enterprise grade hardware. If things are down and you need to rely on an instant recovery running on "just" a repository better hold your breath
