Supported storage snapshot platforms

Post by averylarry »

Forgive me if my search abilities were lacking. I'm trying to find a list of compatible SANs where storage snapshot integration is supported by Veeam. I'm in the market for a new SAN, and I think all the options will be too expensive, but I'd like to at least consider them.

HP and NetApp (v.8). But I'm not familiar with either one, so what model line or specific models or specific module requirements are there?

Ted, currently, Veeam B&R supports HP StoreServ (3PAR) and HP StoreVirtual (LeftHand/P4000 series and VSA) storage systems. Veeam B&R v8 will add support for NetApp FAS, FlexArray (V-Series), Edge VSA or IBM N-Series with Data ONTAP 8.1 or later.

Does Veeam support storage snapshots with HP StoreServ 10000 Series?
In Veeam Backup & Replication for VMware | USER GUIDE at page 142 only the 7000 Series is mentioned.

Thanks for your reply.

Georg, we did not have a chance to test against this type of devices yet (do not have one) nor we had support cases related to this series. Basically, the main requirement for Veeam B&R relates to the 3PAR OS version, which should be 3.1.2 or later. So unless there are some differences in how APIs are implemented, we should work fine with them.

If you have the ability to test this device in conjunction with Veeam B&R and report back here, it will be much appreciated.

Correct, specific model does not matter (at least until otherwise has been proven), as 3PAR OS API abstracts us from these specifics. User Guide needs to be corrected here... Thanks.
