We have two identical VM's, one is used in production and one is used for testing. When we run the surebackup job on them they fail because the VM tools never start. We are using reverse incrementals, I have tried deleting the backups and letting it start over with a new backup but it still fails. Everything was working fine until we updated the software on the test VM, which also updated the C++ and .net software on the VM and then that one started to fail. The other one worked fine until we did the same update on it. Since those updates, I have tried reinstalling the VMtools and we did VMware updates that also updated the tools.
Any suggestions?

Re: Sure Backup Fails
It might happen that underlying folder containing VMWare Tools stays intact during uninstall operation and that's why sometimes VMware Tools re-install doesn't help.
Anyway, you'd better contact our support team and let them confirm whether or not the latest C++ update has broken something in VMWare Tools.
Thanks.
