Surebackup and Domain Controller Issues
Is anyone else having issues starting up a domain controller with SureBackup. I have a verification job with a domain controller and exchange server setup so I can restore a mailbox, but my domain controller takes 15 to 20 minutes to start. I know DC take forever if it can't detect other DC's for DNS. Well in the SureBackup it can't talk to the production network so it has to start to itself. Anyways, I can't seem to get it to start properly. When it does start AD and DNS are not functioning at all. So I am unable to restore a mailbox without AD running.
Anyone have any ideas.
Thanks,

Hello Jbo,
Generally speaking, 15 to 20 minutes may be ok for DC to start - it gets booted twice. We tested boot time in a lab with poor hardware - sometimes it took even longer.
Concerning DNS, which are "Preferred DNS server" settings for interface(s) at this DC? Does it point to itself?

If your DC is not a DNS server (and so dependent on some other DNS server), then that DNS server must be included into your Application Group as a first server, before DC.

The DC is a DNS/GC server as well. It points to itself in the TCP/IP.

Hello etaftm,
Did you solve your problem with the domain controller which takes 15 to 20 minutes to start? I've got exaclty the same problem. The DC is a DNS/GC server as well.
