SureBackup and Exchange DAG

Post by nc.krmr »

Hello,

is there a best practice for SureBackup with Exchange DAG?
I backup my DAG using a Protection Group and it works flawlessly.
Now I want to get SureBackup running to fully utilize my Backupserver and discovered that the wizard does not seem to give me the option to choose any of my two Exchange servers nor the DAG (it only lists the VM Backups). I understand the difference between backups using VM Backup (or Hyper-V Backup) or Windows Agent Backup (via Protection Groups).
Is there really no way to do this?
Anyone got a different approach for similar results/test with DAG if SureBackup isn't an option?

I'll appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

Hi Nico

Agent Backups couldn't be tested until now. But our new release V12 will allow you to test agent backups as part of the Application group in the SureBackup Job.

Please see our Upgrade Center for all info's regarding the upgrade: https://community.veeam.com/news-56/v12 ... enter-4164
And don't forget to watch the launch event later today: https://go.veeam.com/v12

Thank you very much for the fast. What a coincidence, I had no idea the new version would come out today and/or solve my problem.
I'll upgrade to V12.

You're welcome.
It will solve the issue that you cannot test Agent backups.

Testing a DAG may require additional steps.
You will require all domain controller (and DNS) in the application group to be able to start the exchange services.
And you also require to have your witness server in the application group, or the databases in the DAG may have issues getting online. In case you want to test something specific inside the databases with your own verification scripts.
