SureBackup and Linux Vms

Post by apostolt »

Hello , i have a customer and we are configure a Surebackup job which include an Apache Server.
I configured a test for 443 and 80 ports.
The job fails and the log has this entry "[ScriptTests] [Console] Error 10061, No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it".

This VM has firewall enabled which has me thinking that this is the root cause.
Is there a way to disable the firewall when publishing the VM , the same way we have with Windows VM?
Is there something else i can do to prevent this error?

Hello Apostolt

Disabling firewall works only for Windows machines.
Have you tried as a preparation to open the necessary ports on your production VM?
The connection tester runs on the backup server. Configure the firewall to allow connections from the backup server to the Apache Server.

To confirm the firewall as the root cause, you can always open a case with our customer support team.

So my client has to open the ports and communication on the production VM ,so when the VM gets published from the sure backup job it should have the ports opened towards the Veeam backup server.
Is that correct?
The open ports will be active when the VM gets a masquerade IP correct?

Correct.
If you want to be able to connect to the services within the isolated virtual lab, you have to open the ports.
The easiest way todo it is to have them open at the time you run the backup job. If you don't do that, you have to somehow disable the firewall or open the ports manually each time you run the SureBackup Job.
