Surebackup Feature Request

Post by darren_flatman »

For Surebackup -
When linking a job you have the option to process a specific number of VMs at a time
Can this option please be added to the application group?
I understand that defeats the purpose of having an application group but it would solve a lot of problems
There is an issue with Linked jobs - if a VM is rebuilt, name changed, etc Veeam creates a new full and separate chain for the VM
We are using SOBR to Immutable storage some for 7 years
Both chains are being tested by Surebackup when the job is linked there is no way to exclude one chain, there is a way to exclude a VM but not specific chains
The work around is to create an application group but that has two major limitations -
All VMs remain powered on at the same time (requires a lot of resources)
If 1 VM fails in the group the rest are skipped
The feature could be a new group instead of App group. Just test group or anything really but has the features available from Linked jobs and Application groups
The alternative with App groups as a work around is to create multiple groups/ jobs to achieve the same goal

Hi Darren

I believe the main issue you see, is that deleted VMs are tested repeatedly every time the sure backup job runs. We are aware of this issue and are looking into it to solve it in a future version.
There is an issue with Linked jobs - if a VM is rebuilt, name changed, etc Veeam creates a new full and separate chain for the VM
If you delete the old VM and create a new VM, this is expected. The ID has changed of the VM.
Both chains are being tested by Surebackup when the job is linked there is no way to exclude one chain, there is a way to exclude a VM but not specific chains
Excluding VMs is currently not possible. But we are aware of the request.

Hello,
I'd like to upvote fixing the "deleted VMs are tested repeatedly every time the sure backup job runs".

Best regards,
Grzegorz

Hi Grzegorz

We are now considering to change the behavior in a future release.
