SureBackup - VMware Enterprise Requirement?

Post by jamesr9 »

Hi,

According to the Veeam v5 Release notes
"Virtual lab cannot be created on ESX hosts that are a part of cluster with VMware DRS turned off."

As DRS is a VMware Enterprise option does this mean VMware Enterprise is required for Surebackup?

Hi James, no VMware Enterprise is not required, as we do support standalone ESX hosts. The issue with DRS-disabled cluster is inability to create dedicated Resource Pool, which is something Virtual Lab creation wizard cannot handle right now. I would definitely like to try to get this addressed in the next update. Meanwhile, feel free to use standalone ESX(i) host of any license level except unlicensed (also known as "free ESXi"). Thanks!
