Hi Brian, usually when such issue pops up on VM that is being backed up (which happens rarely) we recommend re-installing VMware Tools and it always helps. What happens is VMware not seeing VMware Tools installed, and reporting to us the tools are not present via VMware API. So I would try re-installing VMware Tools on source VM, and see if it helps (after the next backup is done, so that SureBackup job is using it). Liam, this is almost a one year thread, so I doubt that OP will be able to update this topic. Re-installing VMware Tools doesn't take much time, so it is worth trying if you have the same issue. Thanks!
