Hi,
I made a backup with veeam Agent for Microsoft and my whole system size is about 100GB. After the backup finished (and another incremental backup) the size of the backup file was only 35GB and it was stored very fast.
So I'm somehow irritated, because 70% compression seems a little bit too much, doesn't it?
I do not have a different machine to test a restore, so is there any way to verify what veeam Agent has done and what was really stored?
Best, Hirsch

Re: Surprising small backup Size - how to verify?
Hello Hirsch,
Welcome to Veeam Community Forums and thanks for posting.
Which backup file has 35GB in size? If you are talking about .vib (incremental backup) then this is absolutely expected.
Generally speaking, we recommend using SureBackup for recoverability verification, but of course, it requires some hardware resources.
Thanks

So the basic backup (.vbk) has 35GB, I tested to prepare a second backup with a different software and it has only 35GB, too. So I guess it is actually the right size.
SureBackup is not available for standard edition.

Yes, this is normal behavior - thanks to the data compression.
Another option to verify a VAW backup is described here. Please take a look.
Thanks
