Switching Backup Modes
I have a quick question to the community, I realized after a few months that the Incremental (recommended) isn't the type of backup I want (as I want full backups every time), is there any issues in switching it to the Reverse incremental? Will it make the jobs run a full active backup first time?
Thank you with any help

Re: Switching Backup Modes
Hello,
you can just switch, no problem. But I would avoid it, because we might drop reverse incremental in future.
Which problem do you try to solve with reverse incremental?
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Switching Backup Modes
Thanks for the reply, as mentioned in the parentheses above I want full backups every time, the current Incremental (recommended) backup for a few weeks only sends incremental backup data to tape instead of full every time. I hope this feature isn't dropped.

Re: Switching Backup Modes
yes, we plan to solve that before dropping reverse incremental. Forever forward incremental (without synthetic fulls) could also solve it today.only sends incremental backup data to tape instead of full every time

Re: Switching Backup Modes
So it looks like I just need to do this:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
and it will get me a full backup every Friday when configured right?

Re: Switching Backup Modes
hmm no, it's about removing the "create synthetic full backups" checkbox (also active full must be unchecked)
then virtual synthetic fulls can be generated for tape backup
then virtual synthetic fulls can be generated for tape backup
I'm not sure where the full should exist. In any case... you can go with reverse incremental for now and if we decide to remove it, then it would be a configuration change that can be done when it's neededand it will get me a full backup every Friday when configured right?
