Synthetic Backup Creation Keeps Failing

This is only happening for one job (nine VM's total). I have another job that runs on Saturday mornings and creates the synthetic backups with no issues.

Both jobs point to a QNAP. The latest error is Agent: Failed to process method {Transform.CompileFIB}: The semaphore timeout period has expired.

The job is in a retry. My issue is the job takes about 35 hours to complete the full synthetic creation.

Should I change the job to not run until the synthetic is complete? Or is the full synthetic creation destined to fail again?

Because this job hasn't had an actual full backup in three weeks due to this issue.

I have case number 07589954 open on this issue.

Hi tsnider, welcome to the forums.

Sorry to hear about the challenges and thank you for sharing the case number. You can try an Active Full for the time being while Support is reviewing the challenges with the Synthetic Full, but based on the notes on the case so far and your description, it looks like potential network issues or resource contention on the Veeam server itself, as looks like Veeam server carries a lot of roles, and those roles have cumulative requirements.

Please continue working with Support -- I would let the current Synthetic process run through to success/failure if possible, and if you need to get a Full backup, consider an Active Full right now (but be sure to plan for an Active Full as it will require snapshots on production during Active Full creation)

Thanks. Is it possible to have someone from the support team call me directly?

I have several questions regarding my set up. I inherited this set up and need to verify if any changes need to be made because of this issue.
