Synthetic compilation of many incrementals to VBK?
VEEAM 5.1
145 GB (de-dup, optimal compression) .VBK with roughly 7gb daily .VIB's
One option presents that A full Backup is performed on the 1st Friday of each month - Incrementals each day therein.
Another option presents that a Full backup is performed each week on Friday - Incrementals M-Th therein.
ZMANDA ZCB uploads full .VBK (take 2-4 days at current BW levels). Incrementals each day to S3.
Local VRB/VBK Each Weekend w/14 Rollback points.
In a DR situation - (soon in next ZCB release) - A request for S3 Export would present Uploaded VBK and VIB's.
- Currently a DR would require download.
It would be a nice VEEAM option (((: to be able to create a Synthetic Full from a a multitude of daily VIB's were needed to perform a full restore..

Hi Kevin, not sure I understand what you are saying here... can you please explain differently what this nice VEEAM option should do exactly, and at which location this should be performed? Thanks.

Re: Synthetic compilation of many incrementals to VBK?
Sure.
Hum.. Let's say I have acquired via 'cloud download' (although could be a USB, tape, other form of media)- a previous .vbk and 14 .vib files that are associated with the backup set (correct word to use?).
It would be nice to browse (or some method to locate the .vbk and .vib files from within VEEAM) to this location. Then have the option to create a synthetic full comprised of the files --- to any specific date in the respective .vbk......vib.... container date/time window.
Does this make sense?

Yes, I think I got it. You need some tool to create new synthetic VBK from older VBK and following increments. Correct?

Just a note, this is a similar request to the one posted in this thread:

Some enhancements we are adding to our backup set format in v6 should make this possible to implement. Thanks.
