Can I run full synthetic backups with my incrementals already stored on target in object storage?
Thank you

Re: Synthetic full backup on object storage
Not sure if I understand correctly.
At the "Move" mode we only send closed chains to the object storage (SF runs only on non closed chains).
With "Copy" mode you have the local data still sitting on the normal disk storage. This do not affect the restore points transported to object storage (we offload incremental forever).

Re: Synthetic full backup on object storage
Ok
We offload incremental forever..
But..I want to have a full backup in my target site.
My target site is object storage then...Could I make a syntetic full backup directly with the data (incremental) which are stored in my object storage??
Another question...Can Veeam copy data between blob storage (azure) and Cloud object storage (IBM)??
Thank you very much

Re: Synthetic full backup on object storage
Hi Alan,
Thanks!
You don't need to create synthetic full on object storage because the backup chain state on the Capacity Tier fully duplicates the state of backup chain on the Performance Tier. No additional maintenance of data copied to the Capacity Tier is required, please refer to this page on our help center to get more information about Copy mode.Alvaro wrote:Could I create synthetic full with this incrementals on my object storage?
If you don't want to use Copy policy, then Move policy might be a way to go but in this case inactive chains only can be offloaded and you will need to change backup chain mode, for example you may try forward incremental with periodic fulls instead of forever incremental mode.Alvaro wrote:I dont want copy..I want move my incremental to object storage every day.

Re: Synthetic full backup on object storage
In relation to data migration between different cloud providers.
I want to have a first copy of my backup in azure blob and a second copy in IBM cos.
My environment is virtual with native azure Vm.
I install Veeam for microsoft azure from the marketplace and backup directly to the azure blob of the native azure machines.
Now ... If I want to make a second copy to IBM cos ... I suppose I should install another VM in the azure cloud with Veeam backup and replication and use the capacity tier functionality. That is, I download the data in azure blob to intermediate disk and from there I copy the ibm COS
What do you think? Is it correct?
Best regards!

Re: Synthetic full backup on object storage
Create 2 SOBR. Each one to the other cloud and use Backup Copy Job to copy data from one to the other.
The Cloud offloading will be done automatically.
To save some disk space the second one can use for example Retention x days and offloading after 1 days... with copy enabled.
