sysadmin rights after upgrade

Post by howthorn »

Hi,
While we were migrating from 4.1.2 to 5.0, we have faced a permissions issue on the database side. We are using a seperate SQL server and while starting the veeam service during upgrade process, an error like below was fired.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: VeeamBackupService
Event Category: None
Event ID: 0
Date: 12/26/2010
Time: 3:36:17 PM
User: N/A
Computer: TEKVMB1
Description:
Service cannot be started. Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ExecutionFailureException: An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: xp_regread() returned error 5, 'Access is denied.'
xp_regread() returned error 5, 'Access is denied.'
xp_regread() returned error 5, 'Access is denied.'
RegQueryValueEx() returned error 2, 'The system cannot find the file specified.'
RegQueryValueEx() returned error 2, 'The system cannot find the file specified.'

after only giving the sysadmin permission to the veeam service user on the database side, the problem was solved and successfully started the service. now that everytime we take the permission back from the veeam service account, the service crashes and cannot start again.
any ideas?
