Hello,
today we have Veeam Enterprise licenses for our ESXi-Hosts and we use Veeam Endpoint Backup to backup two physical server to the Veeam repository with using backup-copy and tape-copy for the endpoint backup.
Now, I want to do the next step:
-Backup a remote machine with VEB to a repository which is connected to the remote machine
-Backup these backups to a tape drive which is connected to the remote machine
As I understand I need to install these components on the remote machine:
-Veeam Endpoint Backup
-Backup Proxy
-Tape Server
That’s all, isn’t it? Is this scenario supported, did I forget something? The administration of the backups should be possible on our central Veeam management server on the local site.
I don’t need any additional licenses for this because I just need to buy licenses for ESXi/Hyper-V-Hosts, is that right? I really want to uninstall Backup Exec and I think this way can be the solution for it.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Backup on remote site
Hello! You plan looks good, except Backup Proxy should not be required since you are not backing up any VMs there. There's no need for additional licensing either. Thanks!

Re: Backup on remote site
Okay, thanks! What applications are supported for VEB (e.g. Domain Controller, SQL Server, etc.)?

Hi,
Anything what is VSS-aware. You can backup Exchange server, SQL server and Domain Controller.
Thank you.
