Temporary license ? ?

Post by Jeggsy »

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody could help....

We are an existing customer using VBR to backup our existing VMware environment but the time has come to give it all a harware & software refresh so we have built the new hardware & software alongside the existing kit and will start migrating the virtual servers across from the old to the new in stages.

As part of this work, we have also aquired a new VBR server and are just about to get the latest VBR software installed on it so we can make a start getting it setup & configured for the new kit.

My question is how do we come off with the license for this new VBR server ? ? ? The license is still in use on the existing old VBR server but wondered if it's possible to have a temporary license to work on the new VBR server for a month or two whilst we get everything properly up and running on the new kit.

The proper full license will be moved across onto the new VBR server once were migrated across as the old VBR server will be decomissioned after so it was just trying find a way to have backups of the new kit in the meantime.

Anbody have any suggestions ? ? ? Is it possible to have a temporary license ? ? ?

Any advice would be welcome !

Cheers

It would be best to contact your sales representative with this question. As I recall, there have been instances where temporary licenses were issued to clients during their migration from one server to another. Thanks!

Thanks Veremin....

I had already logged a support ticket before posting on here just to see what they said but got told they couldn't help. They did say about logging it on the Sales Inquiry webpage and see what they say but not heard anything back yet from that.

Perhaps see what tomorrow brings and if nothing, will speak with our sales guys.

Overall, it's understandable, as this isn't a technical issue they can assist with. Also, I don't think sending a sales inquiry will change anything.

As I mentioned, the best course of action is to contact your sales representative (the one you bought the original license from) directly.

Thanks!

Hi,

Just a quick update to say that we now have a 90 day temporary license after speaking to our sales rep !

Just installed the new Veeam V12.3 with the temporary license and now starting to get it configured so all good here now.

Thanks

I'm glad to hear that the suggested option worked. As I mentioned, this is quite a common case where our clients are provided with a temporary license for the migration from one infrastructure to another. Thanks!
