the backup size when setup is not same as with the result backup process

Hi everybody

we have a problem with our job backup, when we set the job, the backup file size is 1.8 TB, but once the backup is running, backed up files reach more than 2.3 TB, we have a tape that measures 2.3 TB therefore tape size is always lacking, is there any change / increase in size when the backup process is running? instead it should be compressed to a reduced size?

Hello Hendra,

Can you please open your backup repository via Windows explorer, find the backup job in the question and check the size of the backup files in the backup job folder? Please share the results (i.e. the size of the vbk file and vib file), thank you in advance!

the following I attach figures and descriptions below

Figure 1 shows, in this job backup I filter files only .vbk file, size shows 1.8 TB

Figure 2 shows the overall file size of full backup + incremental in 4 retention, not too far away from the size with file filter .vbk

Figure 3, shows the report detail after the job is finished, when this report appears the tape is full

Figure 4, we see the size of the tape is only free 3.9 GB from 2.3 TB, whereas we see in figure 1 the calculation of all jobs is only 1.81 TB, and I check all the backup results are not perfect because the tape capacity is full (3 VM files are not backed up yet)

Any chance the tape was not initially free? Anyway, I recommend contacting support for a closer look, it's hard to investigate via forum.
