The following SQL database patches are missed: TFS412962
Hello,
After successful updating VBR from 11a P20220302 to 11a P20230227 by ZIP service Veeam Backup Service doesn't start with error:
The following SQL database patches are missed: TFS412962. (Veeam.Backup.DBCreator.DatabaseException)
DB of VBR located at external MS SQL Server v15.0.2000.5 Standard Edition.

Updating MS SQL Server to v15.0.4312.2 doesn't resolve the issue.
What's the "TFS412962"? Google don't know about it almost nothing...

Solution is executing next SQL Query for VBR DB:
REMOVED
#MOD: SQL query has been removed. Please note that configuration database modifications should only be done when instructed by a Veeam customer support and only in the particular environment. Executing random SQL queries on your own may lead to unpredictable results and render your backup infrastructure unsupported. As such, please don't share solutions for your specific situations publicly.

Hi d3nz
I'm glad you found a solution but I had to remove the SQL query from the forum.
Please don't post SQL queries provided by our support team in public places.
It is not supported to run them without guidance of our support team.
Best,
Fabian

Does it make sense to wait for proper update or use this fix for every installation while updating?

Product Management cannot decide if it's safe to use such SQL queries or not. Best to ask your support engineer.
If the support engineer in your case suggest to run it for every installation you have, then you can do that. But I imagine he may want to see the database or logs for every installation to make sure the fix still applies there and won't have unwanted side effects.
Thank you,
Fabian

Indeed, while most solutions from support are fine to share publicly with the community, direct configuration database edits are just too dangerous. People tend to randomly try everything they can find on the Internet and this can really mess up the installation without you even knowing (and without any way to roll back).

As for technical support, this is an empty conversation, because your company unilaterally terminated the support we bought without compensation.
The only question is that this is a clear flaw in the update and will it be fixed?

If this was a "clear flaw in the update", there would have been a multi-page topic from other users in less than 24 hours after its release, as it always happens with any real significant bugs. However, the fact that you're the first to bring this up in over 2 months indicates the issue is rather environment-specific.
