to many restore points(no job failures)

Hi there, I have a forward incremental with synthetic fulls running every friday. the job has been running fine with no failures or issues. I have the job set to 10 restore points but am now sitting on 18 restore points? why is that? when will it merge and tranform properly?

That's expected behavior.
You will find animated retention policies here (scroll down to the section Retention Policy: Forward Incremental). It should help easily understand the mechanism of applying retention.
