Tools for Veeam Cloud Connect Providers

Post by JKABUNDI »

Greetings !!!

We are a Veeam Cloud Service Provider providing Cloud Connect Services to our customers and I was curious as to what others out there may be doing that is out of the box from Veeam Products. Here are some of my questions:
+ How do you monitor customers jobs in an automated fashion? For example if a customer replica jobs fails, how do you get notified for such failed session?
+ Have you found any other smart way to validate customer backup or replicas within the Cloud Connect environment? I wish I could use SureBackup but seems like not possible with Cloud Connect. I would like an ability to tell our customers that your backup and replica are in good health by validating them regularly. At the moment, we have to manually boot up our customers VM in vCenter, check for heartbeat, etc. manually provide them with a report for that.
+ Other than Veeam One, are there any other tools that can make Veeam Service Provider life much easier in managing customers and being proactive specially with the entire solution.
+ For those of you who are offering DRaaS, are you using VXLAN to extend customers network environment to your Data Center? Are you facing any challenges with Multi-Tenancy VXLAN where Layer 2 VLAN could overlap on your side between tenants?

Are you using Veeam Service Provider Console?

There are many ways to monitor jobs. Email alerts are the easiest way, but you can also use VOne and VSPC for this as well.

Replica testing you can use the test Failover plan for a simple test.

I saw a preview of the VSPC 8.1 and I can't wait til it drops! Mark is correct thought VONE is good stuff as well as the VSPC.

This one is a bit like asking secret sauce, but we do extend L2 from our customers to us, but on our end we land the customers on Geneve segments rather than VLANs (if we're doing L2VPN), or we change the VLAN tag on our side (if we're doing traditional MPLS, etc).

A lot of the tools we use are either built off of the out of the box solutions from Veeam, or are tools we've developed in house.

Thank you so much everyone for the input. Much appreciated !!!

When it comes to extending the Layer 2, you are correct, nothing out of the box really works, you gotta tweak and so on.

I will continue going deep into SPC and Veeam One for our reporting.
