Truncate Logs

Hi,
i need a explanation on the option "Truncate Logs" in the application aware backup process on a windows vm with MSQL.
I used the "Require Success" and "Truncate logs" on the SQL database after backup successfull.
This create a recoverable machine in a specifi point in time, but cannot restore transaction logs, because of truncation.
Now if i wish to backup again the SQL with the native Sql tool, i need to do somthing in particular or not?
Sorry , but i don't have particularly skills on SQL Database.

if you want to recover to a specific point in time with Veeam, then please configure log shipping in the SQL settings: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

If you want to back up with native SQL tools, then please use "copy only": https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

hi, yes this is quite clear...but now that i have already used "truncate logs" for a few time... and i want to switch back to native tools.....it's enough if i coverto my backup job to use "copy only"?

Yes, that would be enough. On a side note, why don't you want to use the 1st option suggested by Hannes to process transaction logs?

Yes, it's a valid option for sure, but i let the choice to the SQL admin.

The benefit of doing everything in Veeam is that you don't need to bother with different scheduling options and use different UIs to monitor job status. If you need to do the restore, then the Veeam backup console is here to help too.
