Understanding "days" option in retention policy settings

Post by chrisflyckelen »

Hello guys,

i searched around the forums, but no thread met my situation. I'm struggling to understand the "days"-option in retention policy settings.

I configured a backup jobs with a retention policy set to 32 days and the job runs every four hours between 8 am and 8pm everyday.
What happens to the restore points created during the day? Are these restore points deleted and only the last one of the day kept?

Thanks for short feedback!

Greetings,
Chris

Hello,
32 days retention means that every restore point will be kept at least 32 days. "at least" because it depends on the backup mode. With weekly / monthly full, it can be more days. 32 days is the minimum.
