Uninstallation Error due to nonexistant Drive
Hi All.
I am having a problem uninstalling Veeam because a drive that Veeam used to use no longer exists. It was a storage pool that was created in ProxMox and ended up getting filled up, so the drive (drive E:\) was removed from the windows VM that was running Veeam.
I installed Veeam on a different computer to maintain backups while the server running Veeam was reconfigured with new storage. The new storage is provided as a share from the host (ProxMox).
Now that the storage is back up and running I cannot seem to get Veeam to update to the latest version, uninstall or do anything due to the following error: Wrror 1327. Invalid Drive E:\
Any help in this m,atter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Uninstallation Error due to nonexistant Drive
Hi All.
OK, so I was able to uninstall Veeam from my server by adding in a new drive in ProxMox, then logging into windows and assign the new drive space to E:\.
Now the problem that I'm having is that the database in SQL is still there and causing issues for the reinstall.
Any ideas on how to remove the SQL DB so that I can reinstall fresh?
Thanks.

Hi,
Please refer to this article. You don't necessarily need to delete the database - in most cases it's sufficient to detach it.Any ideas on how to remove the SQL DB so that I can reinstall fresh?

Thanks JaxIsland7575.
I was able to download and install it but now I'm getting an error that the database, VeeamBackup is not accessible.

I have seen that error when trying to access the database from a user account that does not have permissions. Can you try logging onto the SQL Mgmt Studio and connecting to the Veeam database as an admin or as the admin user that Veeam runs as?

OK,
I had to log into the server as the local administrator and was then able to locate and detack the VeeamBackup DB.
I am attempting to reinstall now.
Thanks

Hi All.
OK, so I am getting closer.
I am logged in as the local administrator for the install as well. But now I'm getting the following error:
Failed to create database VeeamBackup. Create failed for database VeeamBackup
Thanks again.

What specific step were you trying to do when you received the error, I have not followed the procedure in the article PTide linked too, so I am a bit confused on what say you could no create the database. Was it a fresh install of Veeam?

Re: Uninstallation Error due to nonexistant Drive
Hi Jax.
I wanted to uninstall my VeeamBackup and start fresh. I finally was able to get the software uninstalled but the database remained and was causing problems. I downloaded sql management studio to try and remove the database but had to detach instead. Upon trying to install after that, the database was still showing up so I went into the SQL program files and deleted all of the files related to VeeamBackup and then the install took.
Now that the software is installed, was able to setup my backup infrastructure - vSphere VM's but I cannot select where the repository is going to be. Is it not possible to hold the repository on a mapped network drive?
Thanks.

Re: Uninstallation Error due to nonexistant Drive
You can setup a CIFS or shared folder repository. You will need proper credentials to connect to it.

Thank You Jax.
I think I finally got this where it needs to be. I'll run a test and see if I get backups.

Thank You All.
With all of your help, I was able to get through the re-setup of Veeam on our server.
I couldn't have figured it out without this particular help. You all pointed me in the right directions.
Again, Thank You All
