Upgrade B&R 5 to 7

I took up the plan to upgrade a 5 version of Veeam B&R straight to 7. Anyone ever tried this ? If so, what were the steps to take ?

The in-place upgrade is supported for 6.0, 6.1, 6.5 version of Veeam Backup and Replication. So, your current installation needs to be updated to one these versions first. Kindly, contact our support team and they will be glad to assist you with this process.Thanks.

Ok, that's clear ! So an inplace upgrade from 5 to 6.5, followed by an inplace upgrade from 6.5 to 7 should do the trick. I'll let you know how it ends

Ger, your jobs should survive the upgrade to v6.5. You can use backup seeding to avoid running fulls over slow link, just make sure you perform at least one successful job run after upgrading to be able to map your backup jobs to v5 format backup files. Subsequent upgrade to v7 then also should keep your jobs and backups.

Btw, here is a proper v5->v6x upgrade procedure in case you would want to benefit from the centralized architecture introduced in v6 (and most likely you would).
