Dear all,
We have 2 VEM (one for Standard and one for Enterprise licenses) and about 200 VBRs, in many countries. All these VBRs get their license from these two VEMs. Both VBRs and VEMs are v6.5 . Now, we need to upgrade them all to v7.
Connecting remotely to each of these VBRs and installing manually the software will take a lot of time.
Maybe there is an unattended method by which we can upgrade them all? Such as copying the installation kit on each server ( on the same location), stopping all services and starting an unattended installation (upgrade)? I hope that there is somebody who is in the same situation and found a good solution. Also, I hope that the VEEAM developers had in their mind this kind of scenario for enterprise level.
Also, if we upgrade VEMs to v.7 while VBRs will still be at v.6.5 will we have any problem (such as VBRs becoming unlicensed for a short period of time and risking to have failed jobs because of this)? Or, we can have both v.7 and v.6.5 VBRs licensed from the same VEM (v.7) .
Thanks in advance,
Liviu

Re: Upgrade multiple VBRs to v7
Hi, Liviu.Connecting remotely to each of these VBRs and installing manually the software will take a lot of time.
I believe it should be possible, if you use msiexec in conjunction with PSExec. The solution is to have the remote machine (PSexec) run msiexec.exe and then point to the MSI package as an argument of the msiexec. You need to copy the MSI package to the same place on each server, this way the only thing should be changed is the name of machine to which you’re willing to connect and provided credentials.
The newly-updated Enterprise Manager should be able to communicate/manage obsolete VB&R installations. Though, reversed isn’t true – obsolete Enterprise Manager won’t be able to communicate/manage update VB&R installations.
Thanks.
