Upgrading to b&R 9.5 U4b Fallback Scenario

Post by GemMa »

Hi,

We are planning to Upgrade from b&R 9.5.0.1536 to 9.5 U4b. We saw that a database backup and a snapshot of the VM is needed.
Is there a procedure to fallback to the working situation in case the upgrade goes wrong? We don't want to rebuild our environment when things go wrong.
Also, it is recommended that all jobs should be finished succesfully before upgrading. Does this include copy jobs? And backup jobs that finished with warning?

Regards,

Roger

Hi GemMa,

Yes, all jobs must be disabled during the upgrade procedure. Configuration backup is needed in any way, as a risk mitigation measure.

If you want to ensure the upgrade goes smoothly, please reach out to our support team so they could assess the environment before the upgrade.

Thanks

We will reach out to support. However, could you please answer the following questions?
Is there a procedure to fallback to the working situation in case the upgrade goes wrong?
Does the requirement to succesfully finish jobs include copy jobs? And backup jobs that finished with warning?

GemMa,

Sure.

1. Yes, there are various failback scenarios, that are based on a situation. Support engineers will be able to determine which one works best for you, depending on what happens.
2. All jobs must be disabled manually before the upgrade. From a technical standpoint, it does not matter what latest status they had before the upgrade.

Thanks
