[FeatureRequest] Use QAT_Deflate compression for backup

Post by Bit-Bull » 1 person likes this post

Hi Veeam product development team,

it would be nice to have the option of using the Intel QAT-deflate compression library to compress the backups.

That would increase compression speed and lower CPU utilization by a huge margin.

Intel development info:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... stems.html

You don't need special accelerator expansion cards for this feature. The new 4th gen Intel Xeon CPU does have integrated QAT engines. (some SKUs)
For example the Xeon Gold 6454S with 4 QAT engines enabled.

kind regards

Simon

Hi Hannes,

thank you for the positive feedback.

Do you have a roadmap, in which release the new feature will be available? v12.5? ;-)

kind regards

Simon
